Nigerian singer Speed Darlington, known as Akpi, has been formally charged with defamation by a Federal High Court in Abuja following his feud with Burna Boy.
The dispute began in October 2024 when Darlington was arrested for allegedly cyberstalking Burna Boy, mocking his ties to Diddy amid the rapper’s FBI troubles.
A diss track, Baby Oil, further inflamed tensions.
Although released on bail after his mother’s plea, Darlington's social media posts led to a second arrest in November 2024.
His lawyer, Stanlie Eke, criticized the timing, fearing Darlington may remain in custody over the festive season.
Eke also argued that defamation, now decriminalized in Nigeria, should be handled as a civil matter.
