Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has spoken about sex-for-roles in the film industry. He believes some actresses enter the industry to use sexual relationships for career advancement.
Kosoko shared his views on the Honest Bunch podcast. He challenged the idea that directors and producers always impose these conditions on actresses.
He emphasized that no one can be forced into sexual exchanges for roles. If a director asks for something inappropriate, it’s up to the actress to say no.
“If I said I need you to warm my bed for a role, and you said no, they cannot force you,” he explained. He added that wanting a role means choosing to comply with demands.
Kosoko clarified that while such demands are wrong, individuals must make their own choices. “If you fall for it, that’s your own business,” he stated.
He also mentioned that some women exploit these situations intentionally. “I know ladies who think sleeping with someone will get them recognition,” he revealed.
Kosoko even noted knowing some popular actresses and a Magistrate involved in this behavior.
