Some people are not made for fame; they are made for purpose - Ayisi

Ghanaian musician Ayisi, born Emmanuel Kwadwo Oware, explains his long journey to recognition.

He has worked hard for a decade but realized not everyone is meant for fame. Some are meant for a greater purpose.

Despite not being widely recognized, he continued creating songs with hope. He believed things would eventually change for him.

In a recent interview, he discussed his win at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards. He won the Record of the Year award.

Ayisi took a break from interviews to focus on personal matters. However, he kept recording in the studio during this time. He prepared for when the right moment would come.

He stated, “I’m not the type to wait for everything to cool down.” He was always ready to take action when opportunities arose.

Even without widespread recognition, he continued creating music. This allowed him to showcase his talent whenever needed.

When asked about feeling pressured by other artists’ success, Ayisi responded thoughtfully. He said some people are made for fame while others have a different purpose.

It’s important for individuals to discover their true calling and align with it. They should continue doing their best regardless of comparisons with others.

At times, Ayisi felt worried but did not let it discourage him. He learned that comparing himself to others was unhelpful; he could only compare himself to himself.

Ayisi first gained attention in 2016 with his song ‘Grind.’ Although he kept recording, his later songs didn’t achieve much recognition initially.

In 2022, he released ‘Can I Live,’ which gained traction in 2024. This led to a nomination at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards where he won Record of the Year.

With this achievement, Ayisi feels confident that it is finally his time to shine.
