The Spain-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) is confident in the government's commitment. They believe the government will improve business and investment environments.
The SGCC noted that efforts to streamline processes are underway. Infrastructure development and incentives are also being enhanced. These actions aim to restore economic stability in the business sector.
At a General Assembly meeting, SGCC President Joaquin Roura Lama spoke about recent challenges. Ghana has faced significant economic issues over the last two years. Currency volatility, rising inflation, and limited financial resources have hurt businesses.
Despite these challenges, Roura Lama remains optimistic. He believes structural reforms will create a better environment for businesses.
Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Angel Lossada Torres-Quevedo, stressed strengthening ties between Spain and Ghana. He highlighted potential for increased trade and investment opportunities.
With the government's renewed focus on stability and growth, the Chamber feels hopeful about Ghana's economy. The meeting took place at Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra yesterday. Key stakeholders attended, including Simon Madjie from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.
The event also introduced a new Board Member for the SGCC. The 12-member Board is led by Joaquin Roura Lama as President. Miguel Sanchez-Burgues serves as First Vice President, while Nadim Ghanem is Second Vice President.
Angela Fabre holds the Treasurer position on the Board. Other members include Celestino Alvarez, Bethel Yeboah, Manuel Domecq, Latif Abubakar, Bobby Banson, Yaw Okyere Boamah, Nuamah Appiah, and Enrique Gorrochategui.
This Board has a three-year mandate to lead the Chamber's activities.
