Streaming platforms’ revenue-sharing models unfair to artistes – Seven Xavier

Music Alliance President Seven Xavier criticized streaming platforms' revenue-sharing models as unfair to artistes, offering minimal payouts despite significant platform earnings.

Speaking on The Chat on November 16, 2024, he noted that platforms like Spotify pay as little as $0.003 per stream, making it hard for musicians, especially in Ghana, to earn a living.

Xavier called for better models to ensure fair compensation and highlighted the potential of local platforms to promote Ghanaian music globally.

Consultant Solomon Appier-Sign emphasized the challenges of making music discoverable and lucrative on these platforms, urging artistes to improve their business strategies.

Both stressed the need for collaboration and innovation to address the industry's financial gaps.
