Abeiku Gyan-Quansah, a Tax Partner at PwC Ghana, spoke about tax administration. He stressed the need for a strong system to implement the 2025 Budget effectively.
During the JoyBusiness Economic Dialogue, he discussed recent tax changes. The government plans to abolish taxes like the e-levy and betting tax. This could relieve businesses and individuals but requires stricter enforcement.
Gyan-Quansah said, “Government says, ‘I will scrap all these things.’ But we are a small economy. A good tax policy needs strong administration.” He believes effective tax policy relies on proper tax management.
He urged the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to ensure compliance. “If laws are passed but not enforced, they remain ineffective,” he explained. The government aims to hold non-compliant individuals accountable.
As Ghana seeks economic growth and revenue mobilization, experts emphasize enforcement. They believe it is vital to prevent revenue losses and achieve fiscal goals.
The JoyBusiness Economic Dialogue focused on “Fixing The Fundamentals.” It asked if the 2025 Budget is Ghana’s last chance for fiscal redemption.
