The Suhum Constituency is fighting against drug and substance abuse. This campaign is led by Member of Parliament Frank Asiedu Bekoe, known as Protozoa.
A large awareness float took place in Suhum. It aimed to educate the public, especially youth, about the dangers of opioid and substance abuse. The initiative received praise for being timely and important.
Many community members participated in the float. Stakeholders included traditional leaders, local churches, Muslim leaders, driver unions, artisans, health professionals, security personnel, Assembly Members, and other influencers. Their involvement showed a strong commitment to addressing drug abuse at the grassroots level.
Mental health professionals were a key part of the campaign. They engaged with community members and provided education on drug abuse's physical and psychological effects. They also offered guidance on prevention and rehabilitation services for those affected.
Mr. Frank Asiedu Bekoe actively participated in the float. He expressed deep concern for Suhum’s youth during the event. In an interview with Accra FM/CTV News reporter Apelete Kofi-Michel, he emphasized his dedication to protecting young people from drug abuse.
“Our youth are the future of this country,” Mr. Bekoe stated. He pledged to continue efforts focused on youth empowerment and community health.
Municipal Health Director Mr. Frederick Kwame Ofosu also spoke at the event. He urged young people to avoid drugs and reminded them of their role as future leaders.
