Suspected stolen ECG cables found in Gomoa Awombrew, truck driver arrested - A-Plus

Kwame Asare-Obeng, known as A Plus, is the MP for Gomoa Central. He has called for an investigation into some found cables. These cables are believed to be part of missing goods from the Electrical Company of Ghana (ECG).

On April 2, A Plus posted on Facebook about a truck breakdown. The truck was carrying cables in Gomoa Awombrew, a town in his constituency.

Residents were suspicious and alerted the Swedru Divisional Police Command. The police inspected the cargo with ECG officials present. The driver could not provide clear details about where the goods came from or where they were going.

The waybill also raised suspicions. After checks, ECG officials confirmed that the cables matched their missing stock.

As a result, police took the driver and his assistant into custody. Others involved are also being questioned as investigations continue.

The police have requested assistance from National Security for this inquiry. A Plus expressed hope for a thorough investigation in his post.
