Twum Barimah is the Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC). He recently inspected two aircraft at Kotoka International Airport. These planes were suspected of drug trafficking.
Barimah confirmed that all checks were done properly. No drugs were found during the inspection.
He spoke on Adom FM’s Burning Issues. He was present when the planes landed and oversaw the inspection. NACOC used sniffing dogs to assist in their checks.
The Immigration Service also conducted separate inspections. They found no illicit substances either.
The controversy began when Rev. Ntim Fordjour, an MP from Assin South, raised concerns about two aircraft. One was an Air MED flight L823 AM, and the other was a private jet Antonov 12B.
Fordjour claimed that the air ambulance landed on March 20, 2025, and stayed for five days without carrying patients. He suggested it might have been transporting cocaine and cash.
He also questioned the Antonov 12B, which landed on March 12, 2025, and remained for 13 days before leaving on March 25, 2025.
Barimah challenged Fordjour to provide evidence for his claims. He expressed doubts about visuals released by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications.
Barimah stated that NACOC followed proper procedures during inspections with trained dogs but found nothing suspicious.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu dismissed Fordjour’s allegations as baseless. In a social media video, he accused Fordjour of spreading disinformation to undermine public trust in the government.
Ofosu urged the public to ignore these allegations. He called on Rev. Fordjour to provide evidence for his claims.
As this controversy unfolds, attention remains on whether Fordjour will produce evidence or if his accusations will be seen as speculation.
