Tema Customs collects over GH¢7.9bn revenue in quarter one 2025

The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority in Tema collected over GH¢7.9 billion in import duties during the first quarter of 2025.

This amount is more than a 43% increase from last year. Assistant Commissioner Theresa Potakey shared this information.

She stated, “We have already collected GH¢7.9 billion this year.” She added that they are still working towards their annual target.

Potakey emphasized their commitment to exceeding revenue goals. She spoke during a visit from Acting Commissioner General Anthony Sarpong.

Last year, the Tema Customs Division was assigned to collect 82.09% of the Customs target. They contributed significantly by collecting GH¢36.86 billion, surpassing their target by 8.6%.

Potakey requested additional resources to improve revenue collection efforts. She noted that Tema Customs generates almost all of the Customs revenue.

This year, the division has a minimum target of GH¢60 billion. This is part of an overall revenue goal exceeding GH¢200 billion.

The collection at Tema port is crucial for the country’s revenue generation due to its operations.
