'The best way to effect change is through music'

Smack Jay Smack Jay

Zambian rapper and activist Smack Jay, visiting Northern Ireland with the charity Beyond Skin, uses music to promote social change and hope.

During his visit, he collaborated with Belfast artists and led workshops at Rathcoole Primary School, addressing identity, human rights, and societal issues.

Smack Jay's lyrics focus on young people's rights in Zambia, such as education and basic needs, while his broader themes resonate with Northern Ireland's challenges.

He highlighted Zambia's 2022 Children's Code and encouraged students to know their rights.

At Belfast's Refugee Picnic, he praised Northern Ireland's inclusivity.

Smack Jay believes music is a powerful advocacy tool and stresses empowering youth with positive ideas to shape a better future.
