Veteran Highlife artist Kwaisey Pee has expressed frustration over challenges in the modern music industry, citing resistance from younger artists.

In an interview on Hitz FM, he shared his disappointment, stating that his efforts to collaborate and share his expertise are often ignored.

“The industry feels colder now,” he said. “I’ve been trying to work with young artists, but they don’t value the experience and history we bring.”

Known for his classic Highlife hits, Kwaisey Pee revealed that his advice to emerging musicians is frequently misconstrued as criticism.

“I’m only sharing my experience to help them avoid mistakes, but the more I speak, the more they distance themselves.”

He lamented the decline of Highlife’s influence in Ghanaian music, emphasizing its importance as the genre’s foundation.

“Highlife is the root of everything we hear today. These artists could benefit from tapping into that history, but it seems forgotten,” he remarked.

Despite the setbacks, Kwaisey Pee remains passionate about contributing to the growth of the industry and preserving the legacy of Highlife music.
