Travel experts at KAYAK highlight two African cities—Algiers (Algeria) and Marrakesh (Morocco)—as top budget-friendly long-haul destinations for summer 2025. Algiers offers a mix of ancient and modern attractions, including The Casbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Roman, Arab, and Ottoman influences, alongside French-style boulevards. Marrakesh, a former imperial city, features bustling markets, palaces, and the iconic Koutoubia Mosque. While long-haul travel is on the rise, affordability remains key, with many travelers opting for less expensive destinations. Nearly half of Brits prefer one major holiday annually, but 25% aim to spend less overall. Despite this, 23% are willing to splurge on luxurious experiences like upgraded flights, unique adventures, or premium accommodations.
