Renowned Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has boldly stated that Ghana lacks proper record labels.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, he expressed disappointment in the country’s music industry structure.
According to the singer, what many consider record labels in Ghana are merely individuals or small groups funding artists without proper industry structures.
A record label is an institution with departments handling marketing, distribution, and branding. We don’t have that here," he emphasized.
His statement has sparked discussions among industry players, with some agreeing that Ghana needs better music business structures.
Kwabena Kwabena urged investors to build real labels that can support artists professionally, ensuring sustainable careers and global recognition for Ghanaian musicians.
