Actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has been elected as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket.

Despite doubts about his chances due to his entertainment background and the constituency's elite demographic, Dumelo secured a decisive victory over incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on December 9, 2024.

Dumelo won with 40,561 votes against Alhassan's 27,377.

Speaking on United Showbiz, he reflected on overcoming stereotypes and challenges, emphasizing resilience and learning from past setbacks.
