Kim Kardashian testified emotionally in a Paris court. She described her fear during a 2016 robbery. Masked gunmen stole millions of dollars in jewelry from her hotel room.
Kardashian faced her alleged attackers for the first time. Nine men and one woman are on trial for the crime, valued at £10 million. This includes a diamond engagement ring from Kanye West.
She spoke for over three hours in court on Tuesday. Her testimony was sometimes interrupted by apologies from two defendants. One defendant, Aomar Ait Khedache, expressed regret, and she forgave him.
Kardashian thanked Khedache for his apology letter while crying. She said it didn’t change her trauma or feelings about the incident. "I just want to thank everyone," she added, acknowledging the French authorities.
The trial has attracted significant media attention since it began. Kardashian wore a tailored black suit and diamond jewelry in court. She was supported by her mother, Kris Jenner, friends, and bodyguards.
During her testimony, she appeared nervous at times but grew steadier as she continued. This was the first time she shared her account of the robbery in court.
On October 2, 2016, during Paris Fashion Week, two masked gunmen entered her room around 3:00 AM. They dragged in the hotel's bound receptionist with them.
Kardashian managed to call her bodyguard before one robber took her phone away. They stole her engagement ring and forced her down the hallway to find more jewelry.
One man held a gun to her back as they moved through the suite. "I thought I should run," she recalled but decided against it for safety reasons.
She was thrown onto the bed and had zip ties placed on her hands. She pleaded with them to let her go home to her children.
At one point, one robber pulled at her robe while pointing a gun at her head. Fearing rape, she prayed to prepare herself mentally for what might happen next.
When asked if she thought she would die that night, Kardashian replied softly that she absolutely did think so.
After taking the jewelry, the robbers left Kardashian locked in a bathroom. She freed herself from the cable ties and hopped downstairs for help.
With assistance from stylist Simone Harouche, they escaped onto a balcony and called for help while hiding in bushes below.
Kardashian expressed distrust when police arrived because robbers wore police uniforms too. During questioning by Judge David de Pas, Kardashian explained why security wasn’t present that night.
Her usual team had gone out with sister Kourtney while Kim stayed behind alone. Until then, they felt safe without heavy security measures in Paris.
"Everything changed after Paris," Kardashian stated about feeling unsafe afterward. Now she employs multiple guards at night due to ongoing fears of attacks.
Her testimony included moments where defendants offered apologies; however, not all were acknowledged by Kardashian.
She ignored Gary Madar's presence; he is accused of tipping off burglars about Kardashian’s location but denies it.
Kardashian expressed anger towards Yunice Abbas who published a memoir titled "I Held Up Kim Kardashian."
She felt shocked that he profited from their crime against her.
"I can't get my memories back," she told the court regarding stolen items like family heirlooms.
Kardashian sought closure through this trial process as a victim of this case.
"This is my opportunity to put this to rest," she said about sharing her truth.
"It was terrifying and life-changing," Kardashian concluded about that night’s events.
