Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., shared the story behind his stage name in an interview with Kessben FM.
Initially known as Bandana, he rebranded in 2013 after a hiatus, adopting "Shatta Wale" to reflect his global aspirations.
"Wale" stands for "World Alerted Lyrical Entertainment," symbolizing his vision, while "Shatta" represents a hardworking achiever.
His transformation from Bandana, known for the 2004 hit "Bandana from Ghana," to a dancehall icon was marked by the 2013 hit “Dancehall King,” which won him Artiste of the Year at the 2014 VGMA.
