Former Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has urged political leaders to change their approach. He calls for a move away from "flash and burn" politics. Instead, he wants leaders to work together for national development.
Dr. Adutwum believes that opposing party ideas should not be dismissed. He argues that criticism often comes from a desire to score political points. Sometimes, opponents know government actions are right but still criticize them.
He cited the example of E-blocks in education. He said if a location isn't suitable for a Day School, adding dormitories can help the community.
During a TEKTALK event at KNUST, Dr. Adutwum suggested bipartisan cooperation on national initiatives. He proposed that future commissions could have balanced representation from both parties.
The TEKTALK theme was “Pioneering National Transformation through Politics, Finance, and Entertainment.”
Dr. Osei-Adutwum shared how politics can drive national transformation positively. He mentioned sponsoring 150 students in his constituency to become engineers and doctors.
He also highlighted his support for STEM education, which is now widely recognized. According to him, politics can indeed be a “force for good.”
Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, founder of 3Music Network, also spoke at the event. He discussed the entertainment industry's role in national transformation.
Sadiq emphasized that politics creates an environment for economic growth. He stated that effective political conditions are essential for building a strong economy.
