Tory Lanez’s team speaks out after brutal prison attack leaves rapper hospitalized

Tory Lanez’s management has spoken out after reports of a stabbing. The rapper was attacked while serving time at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is serving a 10-year sentence. He was convicted for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. On May 12, 2025, he faced a violent incident behind bars.

An official statement on Lanez’s Instagram revealed he suffered 14 stab wounds. These included seven to his back, four to his torso, two to his head, and one to his face. The attack caused both of his lungs to collapse.

Despite these serious injuries, Lanez is recovering. His team confirmed he is breathing on his own and talking. He remains positive during this difficult time.

The suspected attacker is Santino Casio, age 42. He is a convicted murderer with a history of violence in prison. Authorities have moved him to restricted housing as investigations begin.

The motive for the attack is still unclear. This incident has raised concerns about Lanez’s safety while incarcerated.

Lanez was convicted in December 2022 on three felony charges related to the shooting. He began serving his sentence in 2023 and will not be eligible for parole until 2029.
