Trump exempts smartphones and computers from new tariffs

President Donald Trump's administration has exempted smartphones and computers from tariffs. This includes a 125% tariff on Chinese goods.

US Customs and Border Patrol announced this late Friday. The exemption applies to Trump's 10% global tariff on most countries. It also covers the larger import tax on China.

This decision follows concerns from US tech companies. They worried that gadget prices could rise significantly. Many of these products are made in China.

The exemptions also cover other electronic devices and components. These include semiconductors, solar cells, and memory cards.
