The University of Ghana has warned the public about fraudulent land sales. This warning specifically concerns properties near the National Service Farms and Papao.
In a notice from its Public Affairs Directorate, the University expressed concern over recent scams. Individuals from Osu are misleading people into thinking they own parts of University land. These false claims are being used to sell land illegally.
According to Dr. Elizier Taiba Ameyaw-Buronyah, at least two victims have already been scammed. They were told to seek the University's consent after their purchase. The University firmly states it does not grant such consent under any circumstances.
One case is currently under investigation by National Security. Investigators have visited the University multiple times as part of their inquiries.
The University has made it clear that none of its lands have been sold or ceded to anyone. "No one is authorized to sell land on our behalf," the notice emphasized. The University's lands remain its property and are not for sale.
The public is urged to report any suspicious activity or fraudulent offers immediately. This caution aligns with Strategic Priority 5 of the University’s 2024–2029 Strategic Plan, which focuses on sustainable resource management and stewardship.
