Video – Blackofe ‘cries’ for her life after confrontation with Akufo-Addo’s security

Ghanaian fashion icon Akua Manfo, known as Blackofe, is scared for her life. This follows a confrontation with security personnel of former President Akufo-Addo.

Blackofe spoke out against the blockage of two streets near Akufo-Addo’s home in Nima. In a self-recorded video, she shared her experience.

She said, “Earlier today I was in Nima and walked past Akufo-Addo’s house.” She noticed many security personnel outside. One of them called her name, and she stopped to chat.

The guard asked why she made a video about the roadblock. Blackofe replied that it was wrong for the president to block access to the road.

The guard claimed it was government protocol for Akufo-Addo to have this barrier forever. Blackofe questioned why this wasn’t true for former presidents Kufuor and Rawlings.

Their conversation escalated into a shouting match. A second guard joined but did not speak to her. Eventually, one guard told them to stop arguing, which allowed her to leave.

Blackofe often visits the area for business but now feels unsafe. She fears they might attack her again for speaking out against the barrier.

Many Ghanaians reacted to her video online. Some supported her point about public spaces becoming inaccessible. Others mocked her concerns about safety after one confrontation.

One user noted that Blackofe had previously resigned from an appointment under Akufo-Addo due to dissatisfaction with fellow appointees’ work ethics. Another reminded viewers that she vowed never to return to Ghana.
