Legendary Ghanaian music producer Appietus, born Appiah Dankwah, explained that Grammy nominations are influenced by connections within the academy.
He told Amansan Krakye that the process involves peers nominating their friends, emphasizing the importance of being part of the academy.
Using Rocky Dawuni as an example, Appietus noted that Dawuni's consistent nominations result from having peers within the academy who recommend his work.
He highlighted that artists need to be inducted into the academy and have their work recommended by at least two members who can justify its impact.
Without such connections, getting nominated is nearly impossible.
