Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, has made accusations against Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. He claims the Assin South MP is spreading misinformation about drug trafficking and money laundering. This involves two aircraft that left Ghana for Gran Canaria.
During a discussion on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme, Mr. Gyamfi criticized the MP's claims. He said they lack evidence and are just political propaganda.
He also condemned the Minority in Parliament for their oversight approach. He described it as irresponsible, especially regarding national security issues.
"You have lied and proven to be reckless," he stated. "If you had a conscience, you would apologize."
Mr. Gyamfi argued that the Minority’s press conference was based on unfounded suspicions. He questioned why state resources should investigate unverified claims.
He pointed out inconsistencies in Rev Fordjour’s statements. Initially, the Minority claimed to have intelligence about the aircraft. Later, Rev Fordjour called it mere suspicion, which raised doubts about their credibility.
Additionally, Mr. Gyamfi noted that after President John Mahama called for an investigation, no substantial evidence was provided by the MP.
The situation arises amid ongoing investigations into two aircraft involved in this matter. One is an air ambulance and the other a private jet that stayed in Ghana before flying to Gran Canaria in March.
Security analyst Dr. Kwesi Aning expressed concern over how sensitive information is handled by some MPs.
