Actress and producer Yvonne Nelson has faced backlash from former students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School. This follows her comments about the school during a recent interview.
In her appearance on Joy Prime, Yvonne shared her experience at the Cape Coast school. She described it as less than ideal. “Aggrey wasn’t the best of places for me,” she said. She mentioned being scared to attend class and criticized the hygiene and food quality, calling it terrible.
Yvonne revealed that Aggrey was not her first choice of school. She attended due to limited options at that time.
Her remarks upset some former students who feel she is ungrateful. They believe she should respect the institution that helped shape her career.
One former student, known as Daqua on Facebook, criticized Yvonne in a post on April 10, 2025. He wrote, “Dear YVONNE NELSON, this is the last time we’ll take this from you.” He urged her to stop speaking negatively about the school.
Daqua also made serious allegations about Yvonne’s behavior at Aggrey Memorial. He claimed she often sneaked out with boys and was eventually expelled from the boarding house.
While Yvonne has not responded to these accusations, the post has sparked online debate. Many are calling for maturity when discussing one’s alma mater, regardless of past experiences.
Other former students have also expressed disapproval of Yvonne’s comments. They suggest using such platforms to highlight progress or suggest improvements instead of damaging the school's reputation.
