Afia Schwarzenegger Mourns Musician Dada KD After His Passing
Afia Schwarzenegger expressed her sorrow on Instagram. She mourned the death of highlife legend Dada KD. The news broke on Friday, May 16, 2025.
She shared a photo of Dada KD with a heartfelt message. Many Ghanaians were devastated by his passing. Afia wrote, "Ahhh Kwaku Duah..But why? RIP."
Dada KD passed away at Gbewe Hospital that day. She urged people to pray for his family in her post.
News of his death spread around 10:30 PM on Friday. Several entertainment blogs confirmed the reports, but the cause is unknown. The family has not released an official statement yet.
Music producer Kwame Mickey also shared his sadness online. He posted a photo with Dada KD that went viral.
Dada KD was a respected figure in Ghanaian highlife music. He started as a church instrumentalist at age 15 and joined a band later. His first album, *Honey Love*, was produced with Michael Osei Agyeman.
He gained fame with albums like *Adi Nye Wo’* and *Eden Na Megyee*. These helped him tour abroad starting in 1998. Over his career, he released nine albums known for timeless love songs.
In 2004, he won Best Male Vocal Artist at the Ghana Music Awards UK. Although based in Germany, he often returned to Ghana to promote his music.
Dada KD maintained close ties with highlife legends like Pat Thomas and Daddy Lumba. Many musicians have shared emotional tributes since the news broke.
Recently, Dada KD spoke about his disappointment with the music industry in Ghana. He felt there was little support for veteran artists and admitted feeling tired.
Nana Romeo provided details about Dada KD's sudden death. He found him unwell at home on May 16 and rushed him to Gbawe Government Hospital.
Sadly, Dada KD was pronounced dead after several hours of care there. Just a day earlier, Nana Romeo had taken him to the UK Embassy for a visa for an upcoming performance in London.
