Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka Commissions 50-Bed Police Hospital in Kumasi
Interior Minister Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka has inaugurated a new 50-bed Police Hospital in Kumasi. This facility aims to improve healthcare for police officers, their families, and the public. It is fully funded by the Police Welfare Scheme. The hospital will enhance access to quality healthcare in the Ashanti Region.
During the ceremony, Muntaka praised the Ghana Police Service for their commitment. He highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving such projects. He called the hospital a significant milestone for sustainable healthcare for security personnel.
Muntaka assured that the government will ensure proper staffing and maintenance of the facility. He also mentioned that construction of the Tamale Police Hospital is 80% complete. Plans are underway to recruit medical staff for both hospitals.
COP Iddi Lansa Seidu, Director-General of Welfare for the Ghana Police Service, spoke about the hospital's significance. He noted it reflects dedication to personnel welfare and embodies solidarity within the service. This initiative aims to enhance well-being and improve public access to healthcare services.
Social media users have praised the Police Welfare Department for this project. Some reactions included surprise at not hearing about it sooner and gratitude towards President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
In another incident, victims of a recent market fire rejected food donations from Muntaka. The Asawase MP brought 1,500 bags of rice and 8,000 boxes of cooking oil but was told these items did not meet their needs.
Earlier, Muntaka had a heated exchange with Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin during a parliamentary meeting. The argument went viral as they accused each other of violating parliamentary norms.
