Appiah Stadium Dances in Excitement as Otumfuo Passes by

On May 7, 2025, Appiah Stadium and Kwame Ahenfie were in Manhyia. They spotted the convoy of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The two men were thrilled and couldn't contain their excitement. They danced and shouted as the luxury cars zoomed past.

The convoy included a vintage Rolls Royce and several Toyota Land Cruisers. Police vehicles also accompanied the fleet. Appiah shared a video of their joyful reaction on TikTok.

The highlight was the Asantehene’s vintage Rolls Royce 20/25. This car was made between 1929 and 1936. Only 3,827 units were produced, with over 70% still in use today. The car is about 89 years old and has served three Asantehenes.

Otumfuo Osei Agyemang Prempeh II first used it in 1935. He drove it during a durbar for the Asante Confederacy reunion. After his death in 1970, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II used it for 29 years. The current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has had it since his enstoolment in 1999.

This sighting occurred just after Otumfuo's 75th birthday celebration on May 6. Born Nana Barima Kwaku Duah, he is one of Ghana’s respected traditional rulers. He is the youngest of five children born to Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

Otumfuo marked his 26th year on the Golden Stool on April 26, 2025. He became the 16th Asantehene in 1999.

Social media users reacted to Appiah Stadium's excitement about the convoy. Comments included praise for both Appiah and Kwame Ahenfie’s enthusiasm.

In related news, a one-week observation for Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II will be held on May 12, 2025. He passed away while serving as caretaker of Asanteman during Otumfuo's absence.

The Asantehene returned from an overseas trip to learn of his death. He instructed the Mampong Traditional Council to expedite funeral arrangements for him.
