Afia Schwar Criticizes Sam George Over High Internet Data Costs

Afia Schwarzenegger recently criticized Sam George, Ghana's Minister of Communications. She expressed her frustration about the high cost of internet data in a TikTok live session on May 20, 2025.

The comedienne shared that she spends GH₵300 on internet data every two weeks. This expense is for her children and various businesses she owns in Ghana. Although she moved to the US over a year ago, the costs still affect her finances.

Afia recalled how Sam George and other National Democratic Congress (NDC) members criticized the previous government about data prices. She questioned why he has not addressed these issues since taking office under President John Mahama.

She also pointed out that Sam George had previously blamed former Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful for high data prices. Afia wondered why he now claims only the Finance Minister can resolve this issue.

Social media users reacted to Afia's comments. One user noted that Sam George recently bought an expensive car while another called him "the most arrogant minister in Ghana." Others echoed concerns about both the cost and instability of internet data in the country.
