Kwaku Manu Complains About High Cost of Living in Accra
Kwaku Manu recently expressed his frustration about living costs in Accra. The Kumawood actor is a father of four children. He shared his concerns during an interview with De God Son TV.
Manu highlighted the significant expenses he faces for his children's upkeep. He mentioned that many parents spend a lot daily on their kids. For example, a couple with four children might spend GH₵3,100 monthly if they give GH₵100 daily for food.
He believes every worker in Ghana should earn at least GH₵10,000 monthly. Manu said, "The expenses we are making here are not easy." He emphasized that anyone with children understands these challenges.
Despite paying canteen fees for his kids, he still gives them extra money for school. He struggles to get water in his East Legon mansion during the dry season. Every two days, he spends GH₵150 on water from tanker drivers.
Manu explained that even having a borehole does not guarantee enough water. "I experience a shortage of water every five months," he said. In Accra, he often has to call suppliers because the pipes do not flow properly.
He added that his children sometimes waste water by leaving taps running. This habit increases his monthly expenses significantly. Besides water, he also spends heavily on food and fuel for his cars.
Many Ghanaians shared their own experiences online after hearing Manu's complaints. Abdul Rashid mentioned struggling to feed his family due to high utility bills. Another commenter noted that basic items like bread have become very expensive.
In another story, Paul Yandoh also spoke out about living costs in Accra after facing difficulties during Chairman Wontumi's detention. He found it hard to find affordable food while staying in the city and complained about clothing prices as well.
