Koo Fori’s Lawyer Says $50K Fraud Charge Has Been Paid in Full

Ghanaian actor Koo Fori is facing a $50,000 fraud case. His lawyer, Derick Aboagye Asamoah, spoke about the situation in an interview with GHOne TV. He confirmed that Koo Fori has been granted bail.

Asamoah stated that Koo Fori paid the money to a US-based Ghanaian. He questioned why they still needed to appear in court.

During the interview, Asamoah explained that Koo Fori used $50,000 to buy land for the complainant. At the time of payment, this amount was equivalent to GH¢230,000. Out of this, he spent GH¢160,000 on the land.

The lawyer clarified that when Koo Fori received the money, it was worth about $30,000 at an exchange rate of $1 to GH₵5.5. Additionally, he paid $5,000 directly to the complainant.

Asamoah noted that only $15,000 remains unpaid. However, police are charging him for the full $50,000 despite this payment being made.

He expressed confusion over why police continue with charges when they know payments were completed.

On May 12, 2025, after appearing at Dansoman Circuit Court, Koo Fori was granted bail set at GH₵320k with sureties.

Koo Fori had been arrested on May 10 in connection with this fraud case. After his release from custody, he briefly addressed supporters and media.

He thanked everyone for their support and promised to provide more details later. A video of his remarks went viral online and sparked various reactions from the public.

Some people showed sympathy while others called for a full explanation regarding the allegations against him.
