Blacko Discusses Pursuing Music Against His Mother's Wishes
Ghanaian rapper Mohammed Ismail Sherif, known as Blacko, recently shared his journey. He spoke about going against his parents' wishes to pursue music. In a viral interview in New York, he discussed his success story.
Blacko revealed that his parents wanted him to earn a degree first. They eventually allowed him one year to prove himself in music. He explained, "It was challenging, but I saw a future."
In 2019, Blacko fought for a gap year to focus on music. He wanted to show his mother that he could succeed. Now, she is proud of him.
He described becoming a performer as fulfilling a childhood dream. "To be this fly walking in New York is amazing," he said. However, it was tough going against his mother's wishes.
During the interview, Blacko expressed confidence in his abilities. "My competence makes me confident," he stated. He believes that when he dreams big, those dreams can come true.
Social media users reacted positively to Blacko's interview. Many praised his self-belief and authenticity. Comments included admiration for living out his dreams and appreciation for his latest album.
Recently, Blacko previewed songs from his new album with Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Danso in the UK. His song "Lord I'm Amazed" debuted on the UK Afrobeats Chart earlier this year.
Additionally, Blacko's hit song "Where Dem Boyz" was played at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium during a Champions League match against Real Madrid. This highlights Blacko's growing influence in the music industry.
