"I skipped an SSCE paper and had to write Nov-Dec twice": YN details SHS days

Yvonne Nelson Discusses Her SSCE Experience and Academic Struggles

Yvonne Nelson recently shared her academic challenges during senior high school. She admitted that her focus on entertainment affected her studies.

In an interview with JoyNews, she revealed that she skipped her Costing and Accounting paper. She felt unprepared to pass the exam. This decision led her to retake the November-December exams organized by WAEC.

During her first attempt at the NovDec exams, Yvonne failed again. However, she succeeded on her second try. She attributed this to being heavily involved in entertainment activities while in school.

Yvonne was part of a rap group and considered herself the "Lauryn Hill" of the act. Her passion for music took up most of her attention, leaving little time for academics.

She also mentioned that Aggrey Memorial Senior High School had a difficult environment. The fear of punishment from teachers discouraged her from attending classes regularly.

Additionally, Yvonne raised concerns about hygiene and food quality at the school during her time there. While conditions may have improved now, she described her experience as far from ideal.

Social media users reacted to Yvonne's comments about her SSCE performance. Some expressed support for her honesty, while others criticized how she spoke about Aggrey Memorial.

A former teacher responded negatively to Yvonne's remarks about the school. The teacher claimed that Yvonne was a stubborn student who did not follow rules, which contributed to her struggles.

Other former students shared mixed experiences regarding their time at Aggrey Memorial as well.
