"I was raised in Ghana": Chef sets a new record for the longest cooking marathon

Evette Quoibia: Liberian Chef Breaks Cooking Record with Jollof Feast

Liberian-Australian chef Evette Quoibia has set a new Guinness World Record. She holds the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Evette shared her mental challenges and preparations before this achievement. Many social media users congratulated her on Instagram for making her family proud.

Evette grew up in Ghana and Ivory Coast after her parents fled civil war in Liberia. Her diverse background influences her culinary creations today.

She broke the previous record of 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds held by Alan Fisher from Ireland. Evette cooked for an impressive 140 hours, 11 minutes, and 11 seconds.

During her six-day cooking marathon in Melbourne, she showcased vibrant Liberian flavors. She invited people to enjoy West African dishes like jollof rice, cassava leaves, and various soups.

To appeal to a wider audience, Evette blended international elements into her menu. She drew inspiration from Nigerian cuisine, Asian techniques, and Australian flavors.

Her preparation took two months with help from an assistant chef and event planner. She also engaged with her church community and gathered enthusiastic kitchen volunteers.

Despite starting strong, Evette faced physical and mental challenges as time passed. Cooking under intense conditions left her feeling weak and drained.

In an interview with Guinness World Records, she expressed gratitude for her supportive team. They helped keep her on track during tough moments of the marathon.

Evette’s journey inspires women, especially single mothers and aspiring chefs. She hopes to encourage others to pursue their dreams despite obstacles they may face.
