Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has criticized Richard Nii-Armah Quaye's extravagant 40th birthday party. The event took place at Black Stars Square on March 22, 2025. Ampaw believes the celebration was excessive and unnecessary.

In an interview with Chairman Wontumi on Movement TV, Ampaw expressed his views. He stated, "It is your choice to celebrate, but it was too massive." He cautioned that such actions could have negative consequences in the future.

Despite Quaye's intention to make a statement with his celebration, Ampaw felt it was overdone. He warned, "This statement is too much. It will come back to haunt you."
