Yaw Sarpong Performs with Asomafo Band After Stroke Battle, Shows Signs of Recovery
Yaw Sarpong recently performed with his Asomafo music band. This event took place at a church gathering. The gospel musician showed signs of recovery from a stroke. His performance included some classic hits, like "Wo Haw Ne Sen."
A video of the performance was shared on social media. In it, Yaw Sarpong sat in a chair during the show. He was surrounded by his close friend Maame Tiwaa and other band members. Many Ghanaians reacted positively to the video, excited about his progress.
This appearance marked one of Yaw Sarpong's rare public outings in months. His health struggles became known in 2024 when colleagues confirmed he had suffered a severe stroke. This condition left him bedridden for an extended period.
Due to his health issues, he could not record or perform music. Financial challenges also arose, making it hard for him to pay medical bills. His family and team publicly appealed for funds to help cover these expenses.
Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia visited Yaw Sarpong at home. He offered financial support for medical treatment during a tour of the Ashanti Region before the December 2024 elections.
After this visit, Yaw Sarpong's wife, Maame Pinamang, made allegations against him on radio. She claimed he had been unfaithful with Maame Tiwaa and that his family denied her access to him.
However, Yaw Sarpong denied these claims while recovering at Prophet J.Y. Adu’s church in Kumasi. He clarified that he had been divorced from Maame Pinamang for 20 years.
Since then, not much has been heard from Yaw Sarpong until this recent performance. He expressed gratitude towards Tiwaa for her support during his recovery.
Social media users shared their joy about his return to performing:
- Queen Babe said, "I'm so happy to see my daddy again."
- Kwame Agyei added, "We thank God for your life."
- Emilia Serwah wrote, "My daddy is back."
Earlier reports noted that Maame Tiwaa cried during a performance without Yaw Sarpong at his brother's funeral service. She spoke about their close relationship and how he introduced her to Yaw Sarpong.
The emotional moment resonated with many Ghanaians who watched the video.
