"No one gave me GH₵1": A-Plus speaks on campaign funding rumours, BOST rumours

A-Plus Denies Campaign Funding Claims: "I Used My Own Money"

Kwame A-Plus, the MP for Gomoa Central, has denied claims of wealthy campaign financing. He stated he funded his 2024 election campaign with his own money.

In an interview on Channel One TV’s UpsideDown show, A-Plus emphasized that no wealthy Ghanaian sponsored him. “There is no big man in Ghana who can say I asked for money,” he said.

He claimed to have run an independent campaign and defeated both NPP and NDC candidates. A-Plus believes his victory came from being a representative of the street.

He also rejected allegations linking his wealth to the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST). “When people say I made my money from BOST, they don’t know money,” he remarked.

A-Plus mentioned that rumors about his wealth helped him connect with rich individuals in Ghana. They believed he earned significant sums from government contracts.

Despite these rumors, he insisted he did not profit from BOST contracts. His comments come amid ongoing issues with Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine.

A-Plus accused Ayine of theft on social media and challenged him to respond. He also alleged that Ayine accepted campaign funds from businessman Mr. Sledge.

In response, Ayine suggested A-Plus was involved in a scandal related to ghost names in the National Service Scheme (NSS).

A-Plus reacted angrily but later deleted his post and apologized to Ayine for his remarks.

Social media users have commented on A-Plus’ statements regarding funding. Some expressed skepticism about his claims of self-funding.

Mahama Ayariga clarified A-Plus' status as a member of the Majority Caucus amid rumors of his removal from their WhatsApp group.
