Eric Adjei, the NDC’s Deputy Communications Officer, denied it belonged to Mahama. He stated it was Ibrahim Mahama’s personal car instead. Another video showed Ibrahim driving the same vehicle during a visit to Ketu South District.

Although not an official state vehicle, it had the presidential coat of arms on it. Ibrahim Mahama is John Mahama's brother.
