"Ohia nyɛ": Bills founder sprays cash, crowd tussles to pick them from the floor

Richard Nii-Armah Quaye Sprays Cash on Crowd After Event

On April 7, 2025, Richard Nii-Armah Quaye made headlines. He threw wads of cash into a crowd after an event. This happened outside the John Wesley Methodist Church in Accra.

A video shared by blogger Zionfelix shows the scene. Quaye's Bentley was surrounded by people asking for money. Alarmed by their desperation, he got out of the car to speak with them.

After some interaction, he decided to spray cash into the crowd. People rushed to grab the money from the ground, leading to physical tussles.

Quaye attended this event with several leaders. They included King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and MP Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie. The gathering launched the Coastal Accra Rebranding initiative.

This project aims to improve coastal communities in Accra. It is part of MP Ashie's vision in partnership with the Ga Mantse Foundation.

Just days before this incident, Quaye visited traders affected by a fire at Adum PZ market. He donated 1,000 bags of cement and GH¢500k to help them rebuild.

Social media reactions varied after his cash-spraying act. One user commented that he seemed less like a CEO now. Another expressed relief at not having to fight for money on the ground.

Earlier this year, Quaye had another public encounter where he lost his temper. This occurred after he donated for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations and was approached for more money.

Overall, Richard Nii-Armah Quaye's actions have sparked much discussion online and offline.
