Meet the Prince of Asante Kingdom: Nkoranza Manhene Nana Kwame Baffoe IV

The prince of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, attended a memorial event. This one-week commemoration honored the late Asante Mamponghene, Bretuo Piesie Daasebre Osei Bonsu II. The event took place on May 12 at Asante Mampong. It was a chance for the community to honor his legacy.

Nana Kwame Baffoe IV wore a stylish black outfit. His ensemble featured intricate Adinkra symbols that represent unity and strength. He accessorized with handmade royal items, including a matching arm cuff. This highlighted his royal status and cultural significance.

He completed his look with an elegant black turban. This traditional headwear added formality to his appearance. He also wore stylish native sandals that were both luxurious and comfortable. His subjects carried a flamboyant royal umbrella as a symbol of respect during the ceremonies.

In attendance was Nana Yaa Sarpomaa III, the traditional wife of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. She looked elegant in her own sophisticated black outfit. Her headwrap was carefully tied, enhancing her regal presence. She wore an expensive wristwatch and delicate beaded bracelets that reflected her high status.

After the memorial, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV visited Manhyia Palace with Nana Yaa Sarpomaa III and council members. This visit expressed gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for restoring peace in their lineage. It followed Nana Kwame Baffoe IV's swearing-in on January 13, 2025.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported on Daasebre Osei Bonsu II's passing. The Bretuo family informed the Asantehene about his death according to Ashanti customs on May 5. Otumfuo directed arrangements for burial while emphasizing tradition during mourning.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu II passed away due to a brief illness weeks prior, marking a significant loss for the Asante Kingdom.
