President Mahama to Walk the Runway at Ghana Fashion Week 2025

On May 1, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama attended the launch of the Black Star Experience program. This event took place at the Black Star Square in Accra. During his speech, he announced his participation in Ghana Fashion Week in July 2025.

President Mahama will join Ghanaian models to showcase local fashion. He expressed excitement about displaying the beauty of Ghanaian designs. The president attended the launch with his children, Farida and Shahid.

He shared his love for Made in Ghana clothing. He mentioned owning many outfits from local designers, including suits and kaftans. He plans to wear three different outfits during the fashion week.

Mahama stated, “I wear clothes made in Ghana.” He emphasized that all his political suits are locally sewn. He will announce which designer created each outfit as he walks on stage.

Additionally, President Mahama revealed plans for street carnivals across several cities. These include Accra, Tamale, Kumasi, Ho, and Takoradi. The events aim to engage youth and boost tourism in Ghana.

He also introduced “The Taste of Ghana” food fairs to celebrate local cuisine. His announcement received positive reactions from Ghanaians who praised his leadership skills.

Ghana Fashion Week is part of the NDC’s creative arts program called Black Star Experience. This initiative aims to redefine Ghanaian identity and attract investments while creating jobs.

The Black Stars Experience will celebrate various artistic disciplines year-round. It seeks to establish Ghana as a gateway to Africa for the global diaspora.
