Hajia4Reall to Pay $1.3M to 40 Romance Scam Victims After Release
Ghanaian socialite Mona Faiz Montrage, known as Hajia4Reall, was released from prison on May 22, 2025. She served a total of 12 months and one day for her role in a romance scam.
Hajia4Reall pleaded guilty to conspiring to receive stolen funds. This charge involved exploiting vulnerable individuals through fake romantic relationships.
She has been ordered to pay $1,387,458 in restitution to about 40 victims. These funds were collected between 2013 and 2019 through deceitful claims about transporting gold and resolving fictitious FBI investigations.
Initially, she agreed to pay over $2 million but later had the amount reduced. The final figure reflects changes in evidence or her financial situation.
After her release, Hajia4Reall will undergo three years of supervised release. During this time, she will be monitored for legal compliance.
Upon release, she plans to self-deport to Ghana. U.S. agencies will continue monitoring her activities during the supervised period.
This case highlights the dangers of romance scams and their impact on victims. It has sparked discussions about stronger protective measures against such frauds in the future.
