Oheneni Adazoa Praises First Lady Lordina Mahama: “She Is Like a Mother to Me”
Oheneni Adazoa recently praised Ghana's First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama. She spoke about their close relationship in an interview.
Adazoa recalled meeting Mrs. Mahama for the first time in Techiman. The First Lady took a liking to her immediately. Oheneni described Mrs. Mahama as someone who sees good in everyone.
During their first encounter, they met at an event hosted by Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV. Oheneni was there as a journalist and felt welcomed by the First Lady.
Mrs. Mahama joked that Oheneni resembled her younger sibling. She expressed a desire to build a mother-daughter bond with her.
At the event, Mrs. Mahama asked Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare to share her contact information with Oheneni. This led to a strong friendship between them.
Thanks to Mrs. Mahama, Oheneni traveled to the United States for the first time. The First Lady also supports women's empowerment programs in Ghana.
Oheneni mentioned that Mrs. Mahama sponsored free cervical cancer screenings for over 1,000 women. Many women diagnosed with cancer received help with medical bills at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Additionally, Oheneni assisted former First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo with fundraising for the ‘Save a Child, Save a Mother’ project at KATH during the NPP's time in power.
On social media, reactions varied after Oheneni's praise of Lordina Mahama. Some users criticized her past political campaigning against the NPP while others defended her right to express gratitude regardless of party affiliation.
Earlier this year, Oheneni expressed regret about campaigning for the NPP in 2024 elections. She felt neglected by party executives after the election and vowed not to engage in politics again.
