"The true Africa Dancehall King": Shatta Wale wins 3 awards at 42nd IRAWMA

**Shatta Wale Wins Big at 42nd IRAWMA**

Shatta Wale won all three of his nominations at the 42nd International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA). The Dancehall icon took home Best African Dancehall Entertainer, Best Music Video for "Killa Ji Mi," and Best Crossover Song for "Commando," featuring Bounty Killer.

The awards ceremony took place in Florida on March 30, 2025. Shatta Wale shared his excitement on social media, thanking everyone for their support.

He called his wins a "hat-trick" and expressed gratitude to the IRAWMA organizers. He encouraged fans to continue promoting African culture globally.

The IRAWMA was founded by Ephraim Martin to celebrate Jamaican music and culture. It has expanded its scope beyond Jamaica since its establishment in 1982.

Shatta Wale's history with IRAWMA began in 2014 when he won Best New Entertainer. With this latest win, he now has nine trophies from the awards, making him the most awarded artist in its history.

Other notable winners included Beenie Man, Jah Vinci, Diamond Platinumz, Burna Boy, and Buju Banton. Fans congratulated Shatta Wale online after his announcement.

Some comments praised him as the "African Dancehall King." Others noted that the awards recognized dancehall artists rather than just Afro-dancehall.

Earlier reports clarified Shatta Wale's absence from Richard Quaye's birthday celebration. His manager stated that he received an invitation but chose not to attend.
