"We'll not pay instrumentalists, what is your problem?": Prophet ElBernard

Prophet ElBernard on Paying Church Instrumentalists

Prophet Bernard Nelson-Eshun has spoken about paying church instrumentalists. He supports Bishop Dag Heward-Mills' view against this practice. Both leaders believe it is inappropriate to pay church workers.

Recently, Prophet ElBernard criticized UTV's United Showbiz program. This followed their April 19 episode discussing Bishop Heward-Mills' stance. The show features gospel singer Empress Gifty and pundits like Arnold Asamoah Baidoo and Bullgod.

During the episode, Bishop Heward-Mills stated musicians should not demand payment for worship. He mentioned he plays most instruments himself and sees no need for payment.

Bullgod responded to the bishop's comments, calling them selfish. He argued that it was unreasonable for the church not to compensate its musicians. Bullgod questioned why the bishop does not share his wealth with those who serve him.

Prophet ElBernard reacted strongly to Bullgod's remarks during a sermon. He reiterated that his church will not pay instrumentalists, just like Bishop Heward-Mills. He encouraged Christians with gifts to use them freely in church.

He also shared a story about a singer who found love at his church. The prophet asked if she expected payment after receiving so much from the community.

In another incident, a Ghanaian pastor fired his instrumentalists for demanding food money during fasting. The pastor explained that everyone in the church was expected to participate in the fast without extra compensation.
