Father Ankrah Says TikTok Doesn’t Pay Ghanaian Creators, Calls Out Fake Wealth Claims
Ghanaian social media personality Father Ankrah recently discussed monetization for content creators in Ghana. He stated that TikTok does not pay Ghanaian creators, despite their large followings.
In a video interview on the Fire and Ice podcast, he explained that many TikTokers earn money only through client ads or gifts from fans during live sessions. Father Ankrah emphasized that having millions of followers does not guarantee earnings.
He said, “TikTok can make you famous but won’t feed you.” Even with ten million followers and one billion views, creators earn nothing from TikTok in Ghana.
Father Ankrah advised aspiring creatives to seek other income sources beyond TikTok. He faced financial challenges when starting his journey but learned not to rely solely on the platform.
He noted that YouTube is the only platform providing significant returns for Ghanaian creators. He criticized those claiming to earn substantial money from TikTok as dishonest.
Additionally, he pointed out that many Africans create low-quality content and engage in meaningless trends on TikTok. This misuse hinders local creators from earning like their counterparts abroad.
Social media users reacted to his claims with mixed comments. One user remarked on the importance of strategies for lasting wealth. Another highlighted the need for balancing fame with financial growth in content creation.
