"You've taught us how to honour our parents": Dzifa Gomashie loses her dad

Sad News: Abla Dzifa Gomashie Loses Father, Ghanaians Mourn

Ghana's Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has lost her father. Patrick Dotse Gomashie passed away recently. The news has spread on social media in the past few days.

Abla Dzifa Gomashie represents the Ketu South Constituency. She shared a photo of her father on Facebook. In her post, she included lyrics from the hymn "Begone, Unbelief" by John Newton.

Just over a year ago, on March 17, 2022, she celebrated his birthday online. She reflected on their cherished moments together. Patrick Dotse Gomashie was a respected retired soldier from Aflao in the Volta Region.

He was known for his military service and community involvement. Many social media users have expressed their condolences to Abla Dzifa Gomashie. Comments include heartfelt messages about her relationship with her father.

Maxwell Akpabli wrote: "Have my deepest condolences, Mamagã." Selina Ewoenam Ahorsu said: "You’ve taught us how to love and honor our parents." Joseph Armstrong Gold-Alor added: "It is well; your bond with your dad was inspiring."

Roderick Ocloo also expressed sympathy: "My deepest condolences Hon Dzifa and family." He wished that her father's soul rests well.

In other news, prominent musician Rex Omar endorsed Abla Dzifa Gomashie's nomination as minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts. He believes her leadership will benefit the sector.

President Mahama nominated Gomashie on January 16, 2025. Her appointment received praise from various stakeholders in tourism and creative arts.

Earlier this year, four individuals were arrested in Ketu South for carrying firearms before the December elections. They were caught by local youth while driving through town in a truck. Abla Dzifa Gomashie confirmed the arrests and described how it nearly caused chaos.
