President Mahama and Appiah Stadium Meet at Alhaji Banda's Funeral

On April 10, 2025, President John Mahama attended the funeral of Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda. He met his supporter, Frank Kwaku Appiah, known as Appiah Stadium.

The President arrived with a motorcade in Accra. He was welcomed by key figures from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This included Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu and other prominent members.

As he approached the funeral service, President Mahama greeted dignitaries. Appiah Stadium stood behind a guard rail, waiting for him. He waved and welcomed the President from a distance.

Other notable attendees included businessman Dr. Osei Kwame Despite and Bishop Salifu Amoako. Alhaji Asoma Banda passed away at age 92 on March 1, 2025, after a brief illness.

His death was announced by Dele Momodu on social media. Many prominent Ghanaians paid tribute after his passing. Banda was buried on March 2, 2025, according to his wishes.

President Mahama and other NDC executives attended the burial. Alhaji Asoma Banda was influential in Ghana’s shipping and aviation sectors.
