A 24-year-old mobile money vendor named Junior has been murdered. He was found in his one-room apartment at Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region.
Unknown attackers allegedly assaulted him and stole an undisclosed amount of money. Junior operated a MoMo business at the Kwadaso Onion Market. Eyewitnesses believe he was targeted for carrying large sums of cash.
A neighbor said, "He mostly comes home with huge sums after work." They think this attracted the robbers' attention, leading to his attack.
The police are investigating the incident but have not made any arrests yet. This tragedy follows another case last month. A 27-year-old MoMo vendor, Patricia Nimako, was shot dead at Krofrom in Kumasi.
During that attack, armed robbers stole GHS 10,000 and mobile phones. Residents of Kwadaso are urging the Ashanti Regional Police Command to increase security in their community.
"We are living in fear," said a concerned resident. "We urge the police to beef up security in Kwadaso."
