The Military High Command has addressed an incident in Kumasi. This event allegedly occurred on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Seven military personnel are involved: three officers and four soldiers. They are accused of arresting and assaulting three civilians. The civilians reportedly stole a mobile phone from another person.
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) released a statement on April 2, 2025. It was signed by Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, Director General of Public Relations. The statement noted that the civilians suffered various injuries.
GAF stated that the Military Police and Ashanti Regional Police CID are investigating the case. Meanwhile, the officers and soldiers have been placed under close arrest during the investigation.
The Military High Command assured the public that anyone found guilty will face legal consequences. They also urged families and friends of the victims to remain calm while awaiting the investigation's outcome.
